Ron Brinson grew up in old North Charleston. He served as president of the Coosaw Creek Owners Association and was an officer in the Parent Teacher Student Association at Fort Dorchester High School. He and his wife, Peggy, have been parent volunteers at the Dorchester District 2 schools their three sons attended.
Ron is a former award-winning reporter and associate editor of the Charleston newspapers He writes opinion columns for the Post and Courier and other trade publications.
He served as personal assistant to S. C. Governor James B. Edwards, 1974-1975. He was president and chief executive office of the American Association of Port Authorities in Washington, D.C., 1979 to 1986. He “retired” in 2002 after 16 years as president and CEO of the Port of New Orleans.
