Your vote is a precious right, so why should you lend it to me?

Dear Friends,
I am asking for you to elect me as your next North Charleston Councilman for the newly formed District 9. In doing so, I would like to outline my platform. There are many issues facing our district. I have categorized these issues into 3 major categories and called these the top 3 issues of my platform message. They are:
1. Quality of Life
2. Transportation
3. Controlled and Managed Growth.
My commitment to be your representative, your voice, in our district of the city will stress the preservation of our low country quality of life and our residential property values. This includes the need to continue to insure that the proper resources are provided to our police and fire departments to effectively perform their crime prevention and emergency services to us. I will work with other regional governments and developers to manage our transportation and development challenges as our city continues to expand. We as a district can help control and manage the growth that we will experience over the next several years too. We will need to organize our communities and existing coalitions in our district, as a single strong voice before major business development begins. This will insure that landscape and architectural details are enhancing our property values and are beneficial to our communities. We should plan for improvements with our hiker/biker trail along Dorchester road, and an increase in the number of contiguous safe routes for pedestrians and bikers to use as an alternative to driving. Let’s put an end to sidewalks that lead to nowhere! The Dorchester road corridor is also an area where we need strong city representation and involvement. Together, we can promote beneficial zoning and land use decisions for our district. This is how I plan to serve you.
As Councilman it will be my responsibility to work with other municipalities, Dorchester & Charleston County’s, and our State government to insure that we have good plans and solutions to the infrastructure challenges we face to support the growth that we will continue to have. I will support city initiatives that continue to be fiscally frugal with the peoples money by keeping our government lean but highly efficient through good decision making on further city expenditures.
We have had some major economic development over the past few years in North Charleston that has already begun to impact each of us. Boeing has opened up a new final assembly line for its 1st composite commercial aircraft; the 787 Dreamliner. This past year I left Bosch, after 11 years of service, to take part in this historic and exciting time with Boeing. The Clemson Wind Turbine Drive Train Test Facility is another major development. These both will bring higher paying technical jobs to the city. This growth requires us to be highly involved to insure the 3 top issues that I have outlined are protected. With your help and your vote I will serve you in this capacity.
To further discuss these topics and any issues that are important to you, please feel free to contact me. I hope to see you soon visiting your neighborhood. Until then, please pass my message along to at least 10 of your friends. With your help and effort I can win this election and be your next Councilman.
I ask once again for your vote on November 8th.
Kind regards,
Dwight Stigler
